Ratings (November 18)

One of my oldest memories is of Thanksgiving Day with the relatives eating good food (plus one Brussels sprout) and listening on the radio to find out if Texas A&M could pull off enough trick plays to beat mighty Texas. That rivalry has moved to Thanksgiving weekend, the winner no longer gets a night at the Chicken Ranch and all the games are on TV now. But it's still special to gather with the family and enjoy good food, fellowship and football. (And I still have to eat one Brussels sprout.)

The big buzz in college football is the influence of the computers in jumping Florida State over Miami in the BCS rankings. My computer completely agrees, as it ranks the Noles a solid #1. (I've changed the font color of the rankings from Sooner red to Seminole garnet.) I agree, too, having watched the 54-7 "Child Abuse" game over Clemson and the 30-7 poaching of the Gators.

Several states bragging rights are on the line this weekend, but probably the bowls will remain undecided until the conference championships. Giving 4 points to the home team, the ratings predict
